Payment and Billing

Payment for lessons is due before the first lesson of the month and is charged on a flat-fee basis.  Lessons will not be provided for any student who has not paid tuition.  Each student's tuition charges include 42 lessons per year from August to August with 2 weeks of floating time off for teacher personal time, 2 weeks of time off at the beginning of July and 6 weeks of holidays (2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week at Thanksgiving, 1 week at Spring Break, 1 week at Labor Day, and 1 week at Halloween). Your tuition is multiplied by the 42 lessons allotted to each student and then divided over 12 months for your monthly rate.  You at paying for the 10 weeks that the studio is not open. You will pay the same amount each month regardless of the number of weeks in the month, the number of weeks you are in attendance, or whether the month has holidays.  We follow the Volusia County School calendar for most of our holiday closures.

If a student takes a break in enrollment for a month or longer, students will be considered new students and will re-enroll with a new signed contract.  This may result in a price increase if the rates for new students have changed.

Enrollment will continue until a written 30 day notice is issued to the teacher.  Billing will continue until the end of the 30 day notice.

Policy Agreement

Policies are subject to change, but students will be made aware of any changes.   Any students who do not follow the policies herein will be placed on enrollment probation as detailed in the section titled as such.

Enrollment Levels and Curriculum

Students must enroll in the level that is appropriate for their age and skill level.  First-time students must enroll in the beginner in-person option.  Beginning students are eligible to switch to virtual lessons after 6 months of in-person lessons.  After a student completes the beginner levels of repertoire, the student will advance to the intermediate level and will pay the intermediate tuition rate.  When a student reaches the advanced level of playing, he/she will pay the advanced tuition rate.  Discounts are available for multiple enrollments.

If a student does not have books and does not make prior arrangements to purchase books before their first lesson, the student will be required to purchase the curriculum offered at the store for sale at the retail price.  Parents must make prior arrangements to have or purchase books before their student’s first lesson if they do not wish to purchase books in the store.  Teachers are not obligated to spend lesson time arranging with parents where they will purchase books from.  Instead the teacher will use the retail stock for the lesson material if the parent has not prearranged to purchase books elsewhere before the lesson.

Lesson Cancellation Policy

Lessons can be cancelled and rescheduled on the portal WITH AT LEAST 5 HOURS NOTICE. If a student does not arrive for their lesson with no prior communication with the teacher, the lesson is marked as a no-show after 10 min past the scheduled lesson time and is NOT eligible for a make up. There are no make ups for the weeks that the studio is not open. If you choose to miss a lesson, you must go on the portal and cancel at least 5 hours prior to your lesson. Enrollment in lessons ensures that the scheduled lesson time is blocked off for a set time, and teachers are available to work with students at that time only. There are no make ups for acts of God such as hurricanes and other weather events. If schools close for an emergency weather event (hurricane, tropical storm, etc), lessons will also be cancelled.

Sick Policy

If a student or myself is ill, you will always be able to schedule a make-up lesson.  Please do not bring sick students to lessons.  Students mud be fever free for 24 hours to attend lessons  If anyone at home is sick, please keep your student home so germs are not spread.  In the case of lice, please do not bring your student if anyone in the house has nits.

Scheduling

Only one change to the scheduled lesson day and time will be allowed per 90-day period.

Studio Procedures

Please arrive promptly for lessons but no more than 5 min. early for your lesson. Parking is available in front and to the side of the building.

I do allow parents to drop off their student, but only the student who is in a lesson can be left.  If more than one student from your family is having a lesson, parents must supervise the children who are not in a lesson.  No drop offs will be allowed with multiple children being left at one time.

There are cameras in the lobby and each music room.  Cameras are only used to monitor lessons and provide security for teachers and students.  Any images will not be used in any other way unless discussed with parents first.

Studio Safety

Please be aware to be safe while on the premises.  Parents MUST supervise their children in the waiting area at all times.  Please do not allow children to roam freely inside and outside and make sure children are respectful of the merchandise and furniture in the waiting area.  Do not leave garbage anywhere on the property.  Please make sure to monitor and follow appropriate safety measures while on the premises or any other area on the property.  I am not available during lessons to monitor the safety of parents or siblings so access is granted at your own risk.

Travel Lessons

Travel lessons are taught in the student's home.  I will not provide lessons to any student who has not paid tuition for the month.  I will always strive to arrive promptly, but please be patient as driving conditions can vary.  If I am late, the student will receive their full lesson time.  However, I can not stay late for lessons if students are not ready for their lesson when I arrive.  Students need to be dressed and have a pencil and their books when I arrive.  The piano area where lessons occur must be clean, free of disturbances, and accessible for me and the student.  If I arrive and do not feel that the lesson environment is safe and suitable for lessons, I reserve the right to refuse instruction and leave.  Under no circumstances, will I alter the lesson schedule the day of the lesson.  If anyone in the family is sick, please cancel the lesson.  If I arrive, and the student is sick or family members are sick, I reserve the right to cancel the lesson and leave with no reimbursement.

Communication and Receiving Announcements

I am available during business hours for students or parents to contact me via text, phone, or message with questions about lesson material.  Virtual support is a courtesy I provide to every student and is included in your lesson tuition.  However, please do not message me on Sunday or outside of business hours.  I take every message from students or parents very seriously, but I can not answer outside of normal hours.

It is the parent or student‘s responsibility to access all announcements and communications regarding monthly prizes, recitals, etc. on the portal. Any issues that may arise that parents need to discuss should be addressed in private.  Parents who become accusatory or aggressive in front of any student will be immediately asked to leave the studio and their family will be placed on enrollment probation.  .

Promotions

I offer a one-time $5 discount for any student who refers a new student.  The discount is available in the month for which the new student signs up and pays for their first month of lessons.

Prizes are awarded every month for practice time!

Enrollment Probation

There are rare instances when I must place a student on Enrollment Probation.  Probation will be initiated in several cases:  after 2 no-show lessons in a quarter, if travel lessons are deemed an unsafe or unsuitable environment for lessons on more than 2 occasions during a quarter, if a student is asked to do something during a lesson that is refused or ignored, or if there is any kind of break down in professional relationship between parent, student and instructor.

Probation will begin at my sole discretion and will last for a month so that students can rectify the conditions.  If the issues are not corrected within the month, enrollment in lessons will be terminated and any tuition will be prorated and refunded.

During the probationary period, students will incur a $40 convenience fee in addition to the regular tuition.
